Vision 09:57
I got a vision, a good vision With the scenes all intact The roads paved with ice we’ll be walking on water I’ll follow you down you can make my decisions All of us primed and committed with the leaves on their tracks. Keep them in the dark they’ll all come out alright Take them at night and they'll all look the same There’s nothing but ice in the bottom of my cup A horn section plays and their melody slips And slides off the riser. It fills it back up Ice cubes tumble like half sunken ships I’m down here so low, below where you rest The weight of your sleeping it keeps me so straight The generator hums and it seems for the best I know where you’re from it’s impossible to wait As long as I don't undo any good Then all the half done things still count for something. Hear. The roads paved with ice we’ll be walking on water A sundial on a stump and a shadow on a growth ring A river of lights we can cross in deep laughter A whirring if leaves flowing down ever after I’ve seen it before when two things come together Make one choice but act on another one “I just have to practice” I tell myself daily. Sooner or later I’ll have to get lucky. Looks like for now I’ve another day ahead My ice ships are mooring, their rudders embed. There’s sand in my cup, it’s just like you said The day is fast sinking the skies turning red I climb. I climb. I climb. I climb up to meet you, my knees bent and burning. The chains hanging loosely my skins turning green. I cast off all my thoughts and shackles presenting only one certain thing. A semblance of foresight, a posture:some sad scenes. You turn then to write on the wall that I’m facing. I notice a sunken silhouette that you’re tracing. But where are the feet on this shadow that you summon? They break past the threshold and keep beat with all the drumming.

More Than 04:27
Breaks the day, they share more than a melody A saxophone plays with the horn form the train It sputters and starts for all the dogs to bark along I knew I could count on it to find me here I left myself exposed I’m so glad I did Keep me on a short rope I need the limitations we’re better with a boundary and a realistic expectation Rain away we can be stopped by nothing short of a idea bad case of heard it before That’s an answer that I’d like to explore I don’t love it but I like you enough to pretend We could stop it any time but I’m bound to begin again I can’t see why yet We’d commit, keep them in tens and twenties man Break the day the same way the same way it’s always been You’ve been inhibited, jockeyed, keyed and cut loose without a plan We’d commit keep them in tens and twenties man

County Life 03:44
Heat lightning takes me home And burns the field up in a blaze The colors run the length and back They rest and dance in fractured rays Trees frames are silhouetted green and grey When the lightning flames Your eyes are damp and wincing from the heat and the salt. Your intensity gives you away. Resting in place, still and static with your energy, The eye you loved are searing craters into me There’s been a wall built around To keep you from yourself You’re so close to showing your hand You’re rolling up your sleeve Should you decide to commence the liturgy Or respond with anxious adios I’ll be near here to respond to you kind Keep from you what you need most Croak and chirping from the side yard Wake us in the night Army of amphids flight of the black hawks Climb a ladder of magnolias Magnitude of penance waning on Pines swaying in the cold and dewing dawn yet Dropping needles mad and shedding weight County life always seemed so great Clouds land on us and meld like wool and steel Copper and cotton melt and last for years Should you decide to commence the liturgy Or respond with anxious adios I’ll be near to respond to you in kind Keep from you what you need most

Sun Dog 05:35
Back to the glass rack That feeling of falling fades A sun dog dances in the shade Your one wish flowing so free You remind me of something I once looked for in myself But you found it in someone else Maybe they’re waiting for the perfect time To use it on me now Show me what all I’d done wrong Wouldn’t that be a trip And I don’t remember you this way Front and back both out of place Surging upward, budding and hot Different and good in the ways that I’m not Where do you come from anyway? You seemed to float in off the rain A rolling array of dazzling droplets I really hope it never stops

It’s gonna rain tomorrow Just like it did today But you’ve no need to sing your sorrow Cause I’ll be here for all the wait Her child hands they held my fingers As she led me through the sugar cane Her sweating curls and smile lingered And carried weight upon her fragile frame I watch your actions in reverse Foggy visions appear in bursts You see me from your window there As I descend my final stair Your mother’s words they hold a weighted truth A hiding place for all your doubt Your father speaks a thunder from the cloud And all your plans from youth espoused The strife toward your life relinquished A frame of aspen and of oak A final cry that it’s been finished You fought through the night and dozed off with the sun You count the pines and arrange them in lines Form with your hands the vision you saw The walls will breath and your memory’s seized To build your mansion in the mirage Over down beside Forever The one you hope to be is still there It's too much just to avoid the pulling The one you hoped to be is still there

Heel 11:10
No one sees you when you’re quiet. A grinning mountain smiling at the sea around it. A weeping valley filled with salt. Isolation at the heart of valor. Falling apart drift an ocean away for good. Shudder beneath the weight of every new misunderstanding. I feel as though I carry an Olympic torch every day I make my way Up to you and back and forth Constantly and dutifully intrepid schemes Chameleons and iguanas sleep Deep as ruts that catch your feet You’re appellate heel Longing to unlodge itself From the back of a cotorized spine Turning now in mass Salute a Victorian past Spited green and grays fall on the grass Catch a glimpse of something that’s too far off Might send it back at last Caustic at times And unable to helps itself Roots and ribs have formed a cage around The part of you that I can see You seem to be carrying Olympic torch Repentance looks something else A flame atop a burning shelf

Recent Weeks 05:23
In recent weeks we went a day Without the slightest hesitation in our steps oh yeah We tried to say it many ways You watch your feet and mind they wander not from certain paths Watch them running down the hill! Just like that, they cast aside their will We’ll saunter down then And placing bets among ourselves We’ll divide them in two lines Lay a claim where nothing is mine I see you running for the hills now My feet can’t help but follow yours Asked so nicely just to be there You called it unfair, broke the chair, carried the zero there Watch them running down the hills Just like that they cast aside their will We’ll saunter down then And placing bets among ourselves We’ll divide them in two lines Lay a claim where nothings mine I see you running for the hills now My feet can’t help but follow yours

Bugs they swarm and circle all around me Their light in the field I’ll be off and their flame will lead them nowhere Patch my lungs in their place now Like layers in canyons walls There’s no room to move or there’s air to breath But the vision fits the sound the vision fit the sound Appalachian anthem for the end times I know it’s the end but I’ll savor every ounce I’ve given up. Lucky me A silver soil vaporizes, my gait leans on depraved Now Constance is just a railroad tie that's hiding in the Redclay Hiding in the Redclay Greasy hands are clutching empty cans Their contents are spilled like blood in water from the river and The Lamb Appalachian anthem for the end times, the vision it fits the sound. We search high and low on our hands and our knees and look at what we found Llook at what we found We really see it happen here, we could see if it works come to pass. Board the windows up and hide the cash. Toss your head back, weep, and try to see. A budding fruit tree that you named for me. Over there, just a bit further. I caught myself wishing I was you. A hymn sung for you on the day you left. A dozen days the sun will shine all night. Dogs are howling in the field for days. Candles scattered round the crawl space. We could really see it happen here, we could see if it would come to pass. We could really see it happen here, we could see if it’d come to pass.

Now I think I know what you mean I see waves of Jordan move at my feet And all at once I’m cedar straight and rooted in one place Stone throne in the corners empty as you face my way haste the day Realize I never lost a thing I just set it down some place where some one more qualified might find it Wade in silt Rage as your filtered by time Pure as you run through the fire Heels dug in holding the line Raising a steeple so fine Fine I’ll it, you need more than I can see Just then on the corner you, you had me beat Sensorial like an eye to a great light As tactful as a mind in strife Walk in waste Laugh as you’re ravaged time Filthy with soot from the fire Your tracing a forgotten line Never to worry I might Realize I’ve never lost a thing. Just set it down some place where someone more qualified might find it.

You came in off the rain last night Cerulean circles covered your eyes You turned, your cigarette burned The wind knocks my door, look in starting to learn Walls weep and they whisper awhile Birds of the night roosting in my sundial Weep, sweat for the harvest to spoil The sun peaks his head burns the cottonelle foil You must know now that sackcloth statue’s alive Cuts from clay soothing his skin he abides A long fall but he never fell short Been by the city gates two weeks or more At long last you resolve to crown yourself Return to me, all that fall so easily (yourself) Nothing close will come between the ways (Finally above the way you were) You were the wave, to me. No thanks now impart to him or her It hinges not upon yourself Unmoved mover center of the plot Bought by seeking all you can break At long you acquit and settle on Some far off goal from which you sharply run from (yourself) Finally above the way you were I would wrap my hands around I would save it for myself Facing east to brace the wind A force that’s all encompassing You could still say that and I would believe it But that just brings me back down But if I could let you, assuming you’d want to Put me back together would you still do that? You came in off the rain just then I noticed a flicker, it happened again In turn our motives were spurned Pushing me back the door your returned Just as you depart you arrive! Shifting my bones in an uplifting spiral Weep, sweat for the harvest to come Arrange my affairs for the return of the Son
